We are a volunteer organization and appreciate the financial support of citizens like you. People say that they are “for the environment,” but in many busy lives, we know that time is not always available to help physically. Now is your opportunity to offer support to fund the volunteers who are dedicating their lives to improving our environment.

Our precious Illinois Beach State Park is under assault from industrial pollution. The environment and the health and safety of the public are suffering from lack of enforcement by government agencies and officials because there are areas of the park are open to the public that would be closed in other places. The contamination that affects the park also moves southward toward Chicago in the Lake Michigan currents and washes up on the beautiful Illinois beaches. Please aid our efforts to protect the ecology of the park and Lake Michigan, protect the Illinois shoreline, and encourage our government agencies to do their jobs and properly enforce environmental regulations to protect Illinois Beach State Park.

You may make a donation in your own name or in honor of another person. Your membership donation will fund the efforts of our dedicated volunteers. Illinois Dunesland Preservation Society is a registered Illinois not-for-profit corporation and registered under Internal Revenue Code SEC 501(c)(3).

Your donation is tax deductible. Please consult your accountant or tax advisor for tax deduction information. For all contributions, you will receive a contribution letter from Dunesland which states the amount of your deduction.

An attractive letter will be sent informing the individual of your gift. The amount of the gift will be kept confidential unless you instruct us to inform the recipient in writing.

Donation of Investment Property

You may make a donation of appreciated investment (stock, bond, mutual funds) or property and not have to pay capital gains tax if you transfer it to Dunesland and don’t sell it. You will receive the full value of the stock or property at the time of the donation as a tax deduction and Dunesland will receive the benefit of the full appreciated value rather than the amount that would have been available if you had sold it and donated the proceeds to us. That tax benefit will give us a larger amount of money to help the environment and fund our programs. Make a Bequest

Many people prefer to make a donation through their will or living trust, or a vehicle such as a charitable foundation or donor advised fund (DAF). We are very grateful to receive such contributions which enable us to pursue our work. With proper estate planning, such bequests are usually exempt from federal or state estate taxes, and subject to an unlimited deduction. It may be possible to support Dunesland’s work, yet take a significant tax deduction.

If you have a specific environmental program which you would like to fund for Illinois Beach State Park, we would be glad to assist you in formulating a funding plan or an endowment. You may be interested in considering protection of endangered species, educational program, land purchase program, building program, legal issues fund, or special equipment/services fund.
